ESO Favors Guide

Article
Up to date for: Update 50 - 7th August 2026
Last changed: Update 50 - 7th August 2026

Favors are daily quests picked up from Freerunner's Post Boards in Skywatch in Auridon, Aldcroft in Glenumbra and Ebonheart in Stonefalls. The Skywatch board is for Battlereeve Urcelmo, the Aldcroft board is for Lady Arabelle Davaux and the Ebonheart board is for Holgunn One-Eye.

Each board has a fixed sequence of 20 Favors. After Favor 20, that board stops offering quests. If your Auridon board is on Step 5, it gives the Auridon Step 5 task. If someone else is on Step 5, they get the same task too. Quests can be deliveries, interacting with objects, Delve Bosses, World Bosses, kill quests, gather quests, scout objectives and quests that send you to finish a specific zone quest.

Completing a Favor rewards a curated coffer. The coffers can include leads, overland set pieces, furnishing plans, potions, food or drinks, and treasure. Favors can also reward Unformed Planar Keys.

Post Boards

Freerunner's Post Boards are in Skywatch in Auridon, Aldcroft in Glenumbra, and Ebonheart in Stonefalls. Any character can complete one Favor from each of the three boards per day, for a total of three. Your alliance does not matter. Each character keeps separate progress for every board.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

My thanks for this service to me. Perhaps the name Battlereeve Urcelmo on the board surprised you. Don't let it. Yes, I once had access to Queen Ayrenn's own servants. My role as her staunch protector gave me access to luxuries matching my station. But my current duties take me far from home and its simple comforts. Your group provides great help to those of us mired in the war for the throne. Especially as it extends over the many years. Don't underestimate the value of light tasks done for those with heavy burdens.

I shall likely need a Freerunner again soon.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

Your group's agent assures me this will reach the same person from my last request, whoever you are. That letter referred to my current duties without providing details. I worry about the enemy intercepting messages. Only the stars above know how many attempts to infiltrate our ranks we've thwarted. Suffice it to say, where I once stood by Ayrenn's side as her protector, now I defend the entire Aldmeri Dominion's claim to the empire. I lead the Queen's armies into battle on the fields of Cyrodiil. The story of my so-called promotion is for another time. Just know that I appreciate your efforts fulfilling my request yet again.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

Last night, I sent two groups of soldiers into battle. One to take a strategically important keep from the Ebonheart. And the other to distract said Ebonheart and draw them away from the keep. The plan succeeded, but with a total loss of the second group. Just one example of the hard decisions made in war. We can easily accrue more territory from this temple, you see. I must admit, my duty seemed much simpler when at Queen Ayrenn's side. "Defend her at all costs" is not a complex assignment. If she went to bed unharmed, I was successful. But this takes a toll. I pray claiming this old building proves worth it.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

It seems I should not write strangers while tired from battle and after two cups of wine. My previous maudlin sentiments don't reflect the honor I feel as a blade in service of the Dominion. I feel proud of our efforts here and hold faith that we shall soon claim the throne as rightfully ours. My second-in-command, Nalgill, expressed concern over my doubts last evening. He told me of rumors that I'm going soft. Me! Battlereeve of Queen Ayrenn's royal guard and hero of Firsthold? Absolutely absurd. I shall put a swift end to these rumors. My honor demands it.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

My forces built a strong encampment within this keep so we can plan next moves. I took the opportunity to look into the previously mentioned rumors of my weakness. I learned a few things that I share with you as a means to clarify them for myself. These murmurs haven't spread far. My soldiers remain loyal to me aside from a handful of malcontents. Careful, delicate question makes me think Nalgill himself began the whispers. I shall keep him close until I learn why he'd do this. Some advice, Freerunner. A wound's surface infection can suggest an even deeper rot.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

As Queen Ayrenn's protector, I worked with a group who serve her in more subtle ways. Do you know stories of the Eyes of the Queen? Everything you heard are deceptions spread by the Eyes themselves. I find their methods distasteful. Honorable people stand in the light, not skulk in the shadows. But, once again, I have need of the Dominion's spies. Nalgill's suspicious behavior continues. He holds meetings in dark corners of the keep with soldiers I didn't recognize. Privately counseling scared new recruits, he later told me. Fair enough, but I requested an agent come anyway. One cannot be too careful in times of war.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

I sent Feryor out with a routine patrol around the keep grounds. We've seen no signs of a counter attack from the Ebonheart, which concerns me. Either those usurpers grow sneakier, or this area is not as strategically important as I believed. The last option could mean I sacrificed good people for nothing. Those thoughts must wait since Feryor didn't return. It seems he slipped away during a pause for rest. I am betrayed. I likely shouldn't share these events with you, Freerunner, but I suddenly find myself quite alone.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

A woman appeared outside my tent in such a manner that I spilled my drink from startle. As though the shadows reformed into a person before my eyes. She introduced herself as Landell—an Eye of the Queen. Seems my request was approved. Despite the initial dramatics, she seems quite amiable. Though, I know Eyes who hide ruthlessness with casual jokes. Do you think they teach that in spy school? Landell's here to investigate Feryor's disappearance. Which she already knew about. One thing I like about dealing with the Eyes—I never have to repeat myself since they already know everything.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

You may see a brief pause in my letters as we march. Scouts spotted Ebonheart forces gathering near a Dominion stronghold and I plan to reinforce the defenses. If the pause is more than brief, well, thank you for reading my thoughts. I wonder sometimes who you are that so dutifully answers my requests from afar. Perhaps one day we'll meet. I have no update on Landell's search into Feryor. In fact, she's gone missing as well. That's much more common with these Eyes, and so it doesn't bother me. More important matters to worry about now.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

I write to you from Castle Alessia after a long but victorious defense. Ebonheart fools thought they could overpower here of all places? We sent them running once again. Last night was pleasantly cool and quiet which gave me time to think. I saw fire lights glowing from the Imperial City on the northern horizon. Will I ever walk its streets again as an Imperial citizen? Can we imagine a day when Ayrenn is not only queen, but emperor? Perhaps she can bring peace to her people. Recent times have seen so much chaos and bloodshed. I pray these dreams turn true, and soon.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Landell arrived today in a more traditional fashion—through the front gate. She was colder to me than the last time we met. Clearly suspicious of something, but never outright said what. As we spoke, she peppered me with questions on my duties to Queen Ayrenn and how I left her service. The topic came up of my whereabouts during the High Isle affair. That's when I ceased the interrogation and sent her away. My private matters are no business of some spy. But why ask these things? Is it connected to Feryor? I don't expect you to know, Freerunner, nor can you respond. But your continued service to me says I can trust you with my thoughts.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

I left Castle Alessia but cannot say where I moved to. Landell woke me from a fitful sleep and urged me to flee with her. After our previous meeting, her motivation worried me. But she promised my protection. The tone of voice made me trust her. I took only my weapon and armor and we rode until dawn. It seems she tracked Feryor to a group who claim loyalty to the Dominion but feel it should be more aggressive. They see the peace talks on High Isle and cooperation on Solstice and think we've capitulated. Have you heard of them? Landell found plans to magically turn me to their side. So she hid me away for us to plan. More later.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

I recall promising you the story of how I left command of Queen Ayrenn's royal guard. Now seems like the proper time. Perhaps you heard of the Veiled Heritance and their attempts to dethrone the Queen. If not, look into it for it's too long to recount here. During that crisis, I had a vision of being corrupted and betraying Ayrenn. I would never do such a thing! She joked about it at first, but I believe it privately worried her. Even the very powerful can be devoured by doubt, you see. And so one day I received a new command in the Dominion army. A promotion of sorts, but away from the woman I pledged to defend. Strange how life twists.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

I'm still in hiding, but I can't say it's entirely unpleasant. I still have access to you Freerunners, obviously. And Landell makes incredible food. The duty to return to my soldiers tugs at me, though. I hate to think they believe I deserted. We have a plan to deal with Feryor's group, but we have to be exacting. It's unclear how widespread they really are inside the Dominion. They must be pulled up from the roots. And if I'm indeed susceptible to magical control, then I become a liability. Landell's manner puts me at ease with it all. I have faith that she and I will devise the correct plan to end this sedition.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

This is my final letter from this secret hiding place. Landell and I, along with some other associates, devised a truly strange plan to combat Feryor's dissident group. No details in writing, but once we succeed I'll explain everything. I trust you, Freerunner, but not necessarily all the people who hold this letter on its way to you. This idea will test me in ways I never expected. Years as a soldier makes me happier with steel and wood. Anything beyond that feels uncomfortable. Like armor meant for a smaller man. But I swear to you, I shall persevere.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Freerunner—

Please accept my gratitude for attending to the errands during my prolonged illness. I have returned to Castle Alessia after leaving to recover in the sick tents outside Vlastarus. Thankfully no battles occurred while the soldiers went without my leadership. Everyone has rested up, so I plan to personally lead an attack tomorrow. At the rooster's morning crow, we will cross the Niben river at the southeast bridge. Then, we march directly eastward towards Cropsford. That looks like a good path and nothing will make me deviate from it. Thank you again for your service to me.

—Battlereeve Urcelmo

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Notice something odd about my last letter to you, Freerunner? You should know I'd never write my strategy before its execution. And, I wasn't sick in Vlastarus. Apologies for using you, but it worked perfectly. Feryor's spies read the letter and ambushed us at the bridge. They took us to an underground cave that served as a lair of sorts. As expected, their mages tried to control my mind. Magically corrupt me to their cause. I played the part well enough because they released me. That's when I freed my soldiers and cut down the traitors. This kind of deception never suited me, but Landell showed me how. I owe her a great deal.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Landell and other Eyes of the Queen gathered every document found in that cave and they reveal quite the web. Feryor's group was apparently part of something much larger. They claim to resent being asked to fight against the enemy while the Queen makes polite conversation with their leaders. Short-sighted fools. The talks on High Isle could end this bloodshed. And the events on Solstice were bigger than any one alliance. I regret that we didn't find Feryor in the lair. I'd have liked to have a steel conversation with him. Soon enough, I suspect.

A Favor For Battlereeve Urcelmo

From: Battlereeve Urcelmo

Perhaps my last letter summoned a confrontation with Feryor. He boldly walked into our camp yesterday to challenge me directly. Called me a dull blade, wielded by cowards. He rattled on some other vague threats to the Dominion, but I grew weary of it all. One feint and a single slash ended his pitiful life. He never was that good a soldier. At least this portion is over now. I can return my to focus as a commander of the Dominion's forces. I feel oddly reinvigorated.

I realized I failed to tell you how I resisted the mind controlling magic used on me. Supposedly I was susceptible to conversion based on past events, yes? Landell revealed a technique used by the Eyes which I will share with you. She said that as I felt the magic invade my mind, I should fix my thoughts onto a person with strong emotional meaning. Someone who embodies my values that I want to hold onto. I planned to think of Queen Ayrenn, but that changed. In the moment, my thoughts were focused on Landell herself. And it worked. Curious. I hope your thoughts never stray from your values, Freerunner.

Hello, my dear. I wish we could meet face-to-face for a proper introduction, ideally over a bottle of wine, but this note will have to do. My name is Lady Arabelle Davaux.

I've held many titles and been many things in my time—soldier, adventurer, spy, and lately, traveler. I'd love to present you my full credentials, but there's simply no time for that. Just know I appreciate your cooperation. While I'm no scrivener, I look forward to keeping up a correspondence as you assist with these tasks.

Writing can be quite riveting, for both the author and reader. Or so I'm told. Keep an eye out, you'll hear from me soon.

Our correspondence has me thinking about past partnerships I've enjoyed—believe me, there have been many. I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit it, but I ran away from home when I was fifteen.

Granted, I did it to defend my home in High Rock from a Reach invasion, so I was far from your typical teenage runaway. Oh, to be young again! That decision changed everything for me. What seemed at the time to be pure survival instinct put me on a lifelong path. Attempting to protect the innocent. Working for the greater good.

The battles may have been thrilling, but it's the courage of my comrades that I remember today.

It was King Emeric who gave me my taste for expensive wines. Back then he was simply Emeric of Wayrest. We crossed paths while I was in the Lion Guard, shortly after I became captain.

I'm told that I was already something of a legend in those days. What can I say? Strategy is second nature to me, and leadership is a language I know how to speak. Emeric and I would share a fine bottle now and then, discussing matters of military import and the finer points of wine appreciation.

That was just before he recruited me into the Ring of Daggers, now that I think of it. When I first began to learn the fine art of espionage.

Spy work isn't as glamorous as some people make it out to be. Sure, there are disguises and dalliances, secrets and seduction. But much of the time it's simply a matter of knowing when to hold your tongue and let your enemies ensnare themselves in their own lies.

You'd be amazed what a bottle of wine and a sympathetic ear will elicit from your target! Batting the eyes never hurts either. Another trick of the trade I picked up over the years.

A bit like you see in those bawdy Investigator Vale novels. Marvelous stuff, those. You should give them a read, if you haven't.

If you haven't seen the broadsheets lately, I'm proud to say I've rebuilt the Society of the Steadfast. All that nastiness with Lord Bacaro now behind it.

It may have been a sham to start with, but there's real potential there. It's a true philanthropic organization now. We provide relief to survivors of the Three Banners War and we're attempting to bring the Alliances together. The war must come to an end at some point. All wars do.

And in the meantime, between rebuilding Tamriel, meeting with diplomats, and trying to get the Alliance leaders to see the benefit of a truce, it's also a fabulous excuse to travel the continent and sample the local libations.

All in the name of peace.

I never know what my duties for the Society of the Steadfast will entail, it seems. The peace talks brought many dignitaries and nobles to High Isle. One of the Ebonheart ambassadors, a handsome Dark Elf, pulled me away from dinner last night to ask for my help smoothing things over with the Dominion representative.

A little undocumented diplomacy never hurt anyone, and if it will end the war sooner and allow me to enjoy my dinners in peace, I'm more than willing to help. I could tell by the look in his eye it was important to him.

And he had such lovely eyes.

If there's one thing I know, it's how to butter someone up.

The Dominion representative at this newest round of talks? She hails from a prominent High Elf family. Her whole clan traveled with her for the duration of this stage of negotiations, and her young daughter's birthday is coming up.

Who doesn't love a surprise on their birthday? Anything to brighten up the girl's day and show her mother that we're all here in good faith. It's not bribery, it's basic courtesy, my dear. The journey from All Flags Islet to Gonfalon Bay is easy enough.

The birthday girl will be receiving a gift courtesy of the Ebonheart Pact, hand-delivered by yours truly.

Sometimes even I become snared by my own brilliance. I thought the representative's daughter would enjoy a companion while her family stays in this strange city. Quasigriffs are lovely creatures, easily trained and intelligent. Many families keep them as beloved pets and mounts, perfectly domestic.

Except for the fledgling under my care. The little beastie won't stay in its crate and squawks constantly on the road. I was assured that teleporting such a young beast would be more trouble than it's worth, but I'm starting to regret my decision to go overland.

Here's hoping the birthday girl finds it charming!

I've never been one for pets. I appreciate animals for their natural beauty, of course. But as a lifelong traveler, and enjoyer of the occasional tryst, I find them to be a tad needy. Not to mention, I need time and space to think. To write and respond to correspondences like this one.

What use does a spy and philanthropist have for a tiny, vulnerable, slightly adorable creature to care for? The quasigriff has been glued to my side for the last few days, even curling up next to me to sleep.

However, I must admit I've grown fond of its quiet chirps as I drift off at the end of a hard day.

The Dominion representative's daughter was thrilled with her gift. She and the little quasigriff ran off immediately, instant friends. I was almost hurt by how quickly the beastie took to her.

Almost. As I said, I'm not one for pets. And the Aldmeri woman seemed pleased with the delivery. With any luck, this may help to ease things along with the Dominion when the talks pick up again. Hopefully this doesn't mean I've volunteered myself for a future in pet deliveries. I can't wait to return to my clean, quiet quarters and a nice vintage.

Maybe I should get a cat.

I finally stole a few minutes to myself to jot this note. Your service to the people of High Rock and Hammerfell continues to impress. I read every report passed along by the Post. Thank you.

Meanwhile, I'm back on High Isle and busy as ever. King Emeric thought it would be good for me to share my expertise with the younger generation. Let them learn from my hard-won expertise and all that. A flattering thought, but I do so highly value my privacy. I've been assigned a young mage adept, a Breton lad named Juberic.

He's eager to follow in my footsteps. Too eager. The boy nearly followed me into the privy before I slammed the door in his face.

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

I practically had to pry the quill from Juberic's hands to send this. I've never been much of a scrivener. I leave that to those with more authorial ambitions. But the boy must think I'm decrepit from the way he refuses to let me lift even the lightest finger.

I can't remember the last time I opened a door for myself, cut my own steak, or even turned the page of a novel! It would be sweet if it weren't so maddening.

I may be his elder, but I'm far from elderly! If the boy wants to learn from me, he must start with understanding that I'm more than capable of fending for myself. I served with the Ring of Daggers, for Divines' sake!

I simply must have that talk I've been putting off. Fie.

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

The insolence! Today I found Juberic rifling through my desk! I'd just returned from a meeting with the Society of the Steadfast.

He claims he was just "organizing," but from the way his face turned bright red he knew he'd been caught in the act. I had half a mind to dismiss him right then and there, but he looked so contrite I couldn't bring myself to do it. I'll be watching him from now on.

It's hard to see him as a spy or some sort of malicious agent. But as I well know, the best double agents are the ones you never suspect.

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

Juberic may have some promise, after all. Since I found him in the study, he's been nothing but respectful and courteous. He's been taking notes for me during the peace talks, and offered an insightful question or two. He even let me open the door to my study for myself today.

A little digging into his history turned up nothing untoward. The boy's slate is clean, and Emeric is no fool. He wouldn't have assigned Juberic to me if there was any question of his integrity. I still don't fully trust the boy, though.

I found a sketch he'd done among his notes. My likeness, wearing the costume the actors favor in the Investigator Vale stage productions. Highly impertinent!

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

Juberic's training period with me is almost over. Despite myself, I've grown fond of the boy. He may be nosy, but he's got an intrepid spirit. I think he'll do well, so long as he reins in his enthusiasm and remembers where the boundaries are.

I gave him the latest Investigator Vale novel as a parting gift. He's a fan, apparently. In return, he rather sheepishly presented me with a bound notebook. Inside, he'd included ideas "for the next one" as he put it.

I have absolutely no idea what he meant by that.

Who knew peace talks would bring so much conflict? The newest round of peace talks have begun, the campaign at the bargaining table to end the Three Banners War once and for all.

It's an honor, really, that a humble former spy-turned-traveler such as myself would be invited. I find myself sitting amongst nobles, dignitaries, and representatives of all three Alliances—some of the highest-ranking officials in Tamriel. Their lofty titles are matched only by the sheer depths of their pettiness. Arguments over the seating arrangement, tardiness, and the schedule abound.

With all the bickering, I'm starting to wish I had stayed home with a bottle of wine.

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

It's bad enough that the three Alliances have such a turbulent history with one another—and I know a thing or two about torrid affairs. Passions run hot and tempers are unleashed, although it's far less fun than what I'm used to.

Getting the delegates to see each other as people is proving the greatest challenge. We have to overcome the cultural divide before we'll make any real progress.

They made the mistake of serving salad for lunch yesterday, and the Wood Elf delegate nearly started the war all over again.

A Favor for Lady Arabelle Davaux

From: Lady Arabelle Davaux

Another day, another debacle. The Imperial representatives from Cyrodiil are demanding accommodations from all three Alliances and an immediate ceasefire in the Imperial City. Certainly a goal! But concessions and the logistics of how to roust a Daedric invasion force remain touchy subjects.

The talks have stalled while the delegates return to their respective sides to discuss terms. It could be weeks before we hear back! Then they'll each return with their own demands and stipulations, and the whole process will start all over again.

I need a drink.

Divines know how long it'll take to get anything accomplished here. The topic has turned to governance of the Reach.

The Nord representatives from Skyrim claim the Reach is rightfully theirs, while the Imperials are again insisting only they can properly govern the Reachmen. It's not even a matter of the territory itself, it seems. They're simply bickering over who gets to claim the Reachmen as subjects. The reality is that whoever wins this argument is just inheriting a whole new set of problems.

I may have wondered aloud what would happen if they were granted the right to self-govern. Scandal! This is why I remain merely a negotiator and semi-professional wine appreciator.

This may be my last letter for a while, my dear. Real progress at the table today.

The Wood Elf representative brought up the idea of land protections around Hist trees in Argonian villages. I nearly fell out of my chair at such a thoughtful suggestion. Representatives from both Solitude and Windhelm brought up the idea of new trade routes with Orsinium.

There's still much to consider, and the delegates will have to leave again to confer with their leaders. But perhaps, truly, there may be a chance for peace.

I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for me, personally, and the people I care for throughout the north of Tamriel. You are a credit to your name. Take care.

So, there I was, knocking heads in the defense of Fort Virak. It was the height of the Akaviri invasion. I met Tanval in the heat of battle after he sliced a monstrosity's head off its scaly body. As the war waged on, Tanval and I joined a squad to protect Stonefalls. Our job was simple: drive out any remaining Akaviri soldiers. I told Tanval to get out of there; he had a son to raise. Poor Elf had lost a drinking game the night before, though, and wouldn't listen. We charged. I grew up in the forests of Whiterun Hold. We didn't have much, and father was a bottom-of-the-mead-barrel kind of guy. He served the Thane's family at Dragonsreach palace.
